Colonial Retro

Back when Launderette was just an idea, Leslie’s mom coined the phrase: “Colonial retro.” Here is an attempt to define it as a concept.

Delicate fabrics that may have been traded by the British East India Company. Lace, eyelet, chiffon, & silk.

Ruffles, using shameful amounts of fabric to show off one’s extravagant wealth.

Petticoats, no longer solely an undergarment, displayed teasingly.

George Washington’s 7th Rule of Civility: Put not off your Cloths in the presence of Others, nor go out your Chamber half Drest.
