I feel like all we ever do on here is talk about how rad stuff is, but are we ever wrong?

We discovered Vintage European Posters at last years Dwell On Design Expo and were smitten. This Berkeley based gang scours the catacombs of the European Union to obtain, restore, and re-sell a most beautiful collection of original poster prints. Subject matter ranges from Fashion to the Theater to Bikes & Motos. We’re particularly partial to the wealth of Stan Galli, United Air Lines illustrations they’ve managed to acquire. Just gorgeous.

Bees – Part II

Let’s celebrate the hexagon. 16th Century Polish mathematician, Jan Brożek, theorized that bees make hexagonal honeycombs because the shape offered the greatest amount of honey storing surface area. Whatever the theory, we know that bees are dang smart and the six-sided shape is quite beautiful.

Once being being actively aware of the hexagon, you see it everywhere, on floors, in windows, and in soap bubbles. It is truly a bee-licious shape.

Interior Design Tip:
Painted Ceilings

When we decided to remodel the Launderette office, we covered our walls with samples from Restoration Hardware’s entire Flax Paint Collection. Nothing felt right until an inspired idea…

Why not make our office chocolate covered? We are, after all, fueled by chocolate cinnamon bears. “It’ll look like a cave.” some worried. But the idea that dark colors make a room smaller is a myth, so we dipped our ceiling in brown. The result: the dark color draws the room upwards like being under a vast night sky.

A painted ceiling adds drama and interest to a room. When paired with molding and trim, it looks tailored and elegant.

So while you paint your ceiling, can we recommend listening to the Launderette mix? The combination of fumes and sweet tunes will make you giddy.
